The 1990’s spawned a group of trivia ball boys who have taken on the challenge of seeing what the footballing fandom is made of. We are spread throughout the UK and whilst you might not want to know more about us, VAR has decided that you have to!

I started supporting Leeds United at primary school in 1990. This is mainly because I was bored of everybody else supporting the local teams (Villa, Baggies, Wolves, Blues etc..) My favourite player of all time is Tony Yeboah, closely followed by 90’s legend Dean Holdsworth. My favourite footballing memory was watching Leeds and Lazio play out a 3-3 draw in the 2000/01 Champions League.

The magic of Italia ’90 woke me up to the beautiful game. I’ve been a Villa fan since that World Cup, with David Platt being my all-time favourite player (closely followed by the ‘giant-amongst-men’ Alan Wright). My favourite club memory was Villa beating Inter Milan in the UEFA Cup. My favourite goal was Platty vs Belgium at the 1990 World Cup. Special mention to Sir Bobby Robson for just being the nicest guy in football.

My love of the game started in the school playground kicking a ball around with my mates. My first shirt was a Wolves one, and I have supported ‘The Pack’ ever since then! My favourite player has to be Steve ‘Bully’ Bull. My favourite footballing moments are watching England play at major tournaments, even if they do always end in disappointment!

As a lifelong Plymouth Argyle fan I’m used to using the phrase ‘beautiful game’ with a pinch of salt. During my younger years, I followed the club up and down the league ladder, enjoying the glory days of David Frio and Romain Larrieu and a brief stint in the Championship before financial ruin and near oblivion. Thirty years since my first game, these days I love taking my son to watch the new generation of The Pilgrims.
